Shirley Weber is California’s first Black Secretary of State and only the fifth African American to serve as a state constitutional officer in California’s 173-year history. Weber authored and helped pass California's Ethnic Studies Bill (AB 1460) on behalf of the California Faculty Association (CFA) and with support from the legislative ethnic caucuses.


Pamela Haynes was appointed to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors by Gov. Jerry Brown in 2016. Haynes has served on the Los Rios Community College District Board of Trustees for more than 20 years, including four terms as board president. She also sits on the Board of Trustees for the Community College League of California and the Los Rios Foundation Board.
Conference registration will cover CCCESFC membership for Spring 2025 (now through June) for eligible faculty. Seating is limited.
Discussion topics include but are not limited to: current state and nationwide legislation, TMC/ADT development and reviewer training, common course numbering, and other issues impacting Ethnic Studies and our 4 autonomous disciplines.
This conference is specifically designed for discipline experts and scholars in African American/Black Studies, Asian American/Pacific Islander Studies, Chicana/o Studies, and American Indian/Native American Studies.
